- Introduction: Dirt Rich makes the case for shifting our focus from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to carbon sequestration as a means to rapidly reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
Through regenerative agricultural practices, reforestation programs, restoration of carbon-rich wetlands and protection of keystone species, Dirt Rich illustrates how implementing these strategies can return our atmosphere to safe levels of carbon while at the same time growing soil, our most precious resource.
In addition to being the earth’s largest ‘carbon sink’, the soil ecosystem maintains about 99% of the living biomass on the planet and regulates atmospheric chemistry, global climate, sea level and water supplies.
Please RSVP to attend this free screening of a film Paul Hawken calls "Touching, instructive, endearing, astute, grounded, heartwarming, and remarkable. Adjectives cannot describe how skillfully Dirt Rich portrays the emergent wisdom of the new breed of earth stewards—scientists, smallholders, agronomists, and activists who brilliantly husband land (and animals) in order to midwife a regenerative civilization."
Doors open at 6pm, the screening starts at 6:30 and will be followed by panel discussion featuring filmmaker Marcy Cravat.
